Glenn Scott Davis (Dr. G) Biography (partial taken from the old wiki page)

Brief history:

Glenn Davis is best known for his contributions to the music scene in the Northeast, United States. Son of multi-millionaire Roy Davis and a native of Weston, Massachusetts, he pioneered among other things, the shadowing technique of recording.

Glenn became a drummer at age 5 and was allowed to keep drums at school to play for talent shows and during lunch for other student's enjoyment all the way through High School Graduation.
Freelanced as a live show mixer for various music acts in and around Boston, Massachusetts and New England including "The Old Vienna".
Played Drums, keyboards and sang with numerous Boston area bands.
Played Drums on several cruise ships in The U.S. and Europe including on the Rhine River "Holland America Lines", SS Emerald Seas (Florida to Nassau), SS Oceanic, SS Flavia, SS Ariadne, SS Bahama Star, QE2, Scotia Prince, SS Southward, SS Sunward, SS Skyward.

He was out of school more than not (world travel and music work) growing up and has collected a lifetime of travel materials. Fond of Disney World, he was lucky enough to play with Lionel Hampton in a free concert in Tomorrowland. He has also rubbed elbows with many movie and television stars either through studio work, charity dinners and the like, including, but not limited to: Lucille Ball (MGM Grand Hotel, Las Vegas), Frank Sinatra (Fontainebleau Hotel, Miami), Bermuda Strollers (Elbow Beach, Bermuda), Jackie Gleason (Fontainebleau Hotel, Miami), Victor Borge (Family Friend), Bob Hope (Boston Pops W/Arthur Fiedler), Johnny Carson (Chateau Deville, Framingham, MA), John Williams (Hyannis, MA), Robert Shaw (Martha's Vineyard).

More Facts and Tidbits:

Glenn Davis, an avid amusement park enthusiast, on his way to Paragon Park, would stop in at the famed Rik Tinory Studios in between sessions with Aerosmith and Air Supply to work on lead sheets with Rik Tinory. Rocky Point Park was also a favorite and on one of Glenn's Normandy Sound visits, he stopped in to have producer Phil Greene put up a playback of some of the first solo work (too ruff, too tuff) done by Journey's singer Steve Perry.
Slowly, but surely, most of the big studios started to shut down or were sold due to high rent or lack of business due to people recording more at home or in smaller studios. One of Glenn's first 48 track analog (two 2" 24 track recording decks synchronized together) projects was done at Blue Jay, one of the first studios in Massachusetts to buy an SSL Console. Glenn worked in between sessions with big band era Artie Shaw and spent time "talking shop" with Artie during breaks. Other New England Studios were still using mostly Sony MCI Consoles and Trident Boards and Glenn, being a pioneer of electronic music, made trips to New York City to take advantage of Bobby Nathan's Unique Recording which boasted SSL Consoles and a virtual warehouse of then state-of-the-art keyboards and drum machines. What was not in house, could be had at one of the world's largest music shops a stone's throw away. Glenn even worked during Steve Winwood's Back in the High Life sessions and used a lot of the gear that was set up there for Steve for his own projects. In rapid fashion, the larger studios in New England (and nationwide) tried to keep up by buying large format SSL or Neve Consoles. The explosion of computer recording hit hard in the late 1990s through 2006 with the closing of many landmark studios nationwide.

Glenn worked for a period of time in the late 1970s and early 1980s in speaker design at EAW (Eastern Acoustic Works) and at ARP (a keyboard company trying to compete with Moog synthesizer), about a half mile down the road from Glenn's father's Newton, Massachusetts based company which sold to large and small companies including Norwell, Massachusetts based Avedis Zildjian Company, makers of cymbals for drummers.
Known as a fanatic of all things music, Glenn is known for "never stopping" and would even work during "leisure" time at all hours of the night in a studio he set up in one of the staterooms of the family yacht at Marina Bay (Quincy, MA) on Boston Harbor.

     Mixing with Ed Goodreau.
